Cancer Home Care – Care Providers for people with Cancer

Advances in cancer treatment have led to shorter hospital stays and sicker people being cared for at home. As a result, home health care professionals have become more important than ever in maintaining the quality of life for cancer patients in their homes.

Cancer Home Care

Care providers are trained to recognize signs of problems patients with cancer experience including the possible side effects of treatments.

Compassionate Home Health Aides can assist with palliative treatment (i.e. keeping the patient comfortable especially if they are at the end stage). Aides also provide respite care to allow family members to get a break from caring for the ill person.

That’s when patients turn to American In-Home Care to match them with the right care provider for home health care services.

The care provider will assist patients with the activities of daily living:

  • Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Toileting
  • Transferring
  • Ambulating (walking)
  • Continence care and feeding (as needed by the patient and recommended by their physician)
  • Medication reminders
  • Run errands
  • Light housekeeping
  • Accompany to doctor’s appointments
  • Monitor for gross behavioral changes
  • Help to maintain safety
  • Passive exercises

More Cancer information and support can be found at the American Cancer Society.
